Or it could be a subgenre of hardcore, hence the name. inb4hardcoreismetal.
Last time I checked Metalcore is a mix of both genres, Hardcore and Metal, which technically means it is Metal. Next you will be telling me Nu-Metal and Trash Metal isn't Metal aswell.

Nu-Metal isn't metal, at all really. Trash Metal isn't a genre.

So you are saying such bands as System of A Down, Korn, Disturbed, Static-X and Godsmack isn't Metal?
Oh and I wonder what genre Metallica, Antrhax (which are metal trashing mad mind you), Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Overkill and Evile is then if Trash Metal doesn't exists.
And if you are going to tell me that "it is only Metal when they growl" or "have that and that sound" I am gonna give you a "Silliest Claim" award.

Actually, that is absolutely correct, none of those bands are even close to metal, closest would be SOAD, and if they would have played solos on their first three albums then they would be groove metal, but they didn't.

There is a difference between Thrash and Trash. All those bands are Thrash metal, trash metal doesn't exist.

So what you are saying is that Metal need to have guitar soloes to be Metal? Give St. Anger a listen sometime, aswell as Disturbed who have plenty of heavy riffs and soloes in their newer stuff.
And before you start "but you said earlier that Metal isn't all growling" blah blah, yeah I never claimed so. Alot of Metal DO have growling, yes, but it doesn't need to have growling to be Metal.

Wow. I decide to quit RB and they bring out some songs I've wanted.
Take On Me would be pretty epic on vocals, and drums. Also, eww; Nightmare A7X. I do not like the current drummer, Rev was much better, and the style they went with on Nightmare just doesn't feel right.
Wow, never heard someone slam Mike Portnoy's drumming before... oh and the drum charts were finished before Jimmy's death. so there actually would not have been any difference in what was played, the drum sound itself may have been slightly different.
I don't think there's a universal definition of metal music, but bands like Static-X, Disturbed and KoRn have always sounded like a strange mix of rap and hard rock to me (a mix that has only worked for Run-D.M.C., Faith No More and the Beastie Boys, by the way). It's like metal for people that don't like metal.
Also, nü-metal is just a term invented by radio DJ's that were trying to figure out what to call Linkin Park

In your opinion though. You and Dog sure are pretty biased about opinions I must say. But ok, personal opinion about it, fine.
Razor_Shark, care to explain your definition of Metal?
Also it doesn't hurt to be nice towards other people's opinions in music. After all, people do actually like the music you are going around saying sounds worse than shit.
