Crosspost from RB forum. Here we go again...

Hey gang,

Starting April 3rd there will be a temporary interruption in DLC service for SCEE (Sony Europe), NOA (Nintendo in America) and NOE (Nintendo in Europe). This downtime is a direct result of mandatory changes being made to our DLC publishing arrangements.

What does this mean for PS3 and Wii users in the affected territories?

• After 4/1 there will be a temporary interruption of new DLC releases (including RBN)
• The existing catalog of previous RB DLC releases should remain available as usual
• Export for all eligible RB titles should be unaffected
• Our hope is to resume regular DLC service by this summer

We know that this isn’t ideal news for those of you still picking up new DLC every week, but you can trust that this short down time is necessary to ensure the continued release of DLC and the continued availability of the thousands of songs in the back catalog. There is no precedent for managing a library of content this size, and no standard for making changes on this scale but we are working hard to ensure that the process is as quick and as smooth as possible.

We’ll refresh this post with updates and responses to FAQs in the coming weeks, so please keep posted for more info. Thanks a lot for your patience and understanding.

Great logic. My TV won't power on. Let me call the cable company.

Believe it or not, HMX does not make consoles nor do they have any control over the PSN store or the wii store!

I'm not arguing. It is what it is. I was just disagreeing with Ryan's statement about whom to ask. You want more info you should get it straight from the horse's mouth. i.e., HMX.

2 of those are the big offenders with DLC issues, so I'm guessing it's to help fix the pipeline a bit. Feel bad for the folks effected, but hopefully it will lead to better and more reliable DLC arrival for them.

Meanwhile, this doesn't effect a good majority of DLC buyers (Wii and Euro PS3 players are not a large part of the DLC market), so I understand why they may have made the 360 and Sony NA the top priorities (though it's possible they simply were more responsive and easier to work with as well).

Wait, are you arguing about the death of Rock Band right now or arguing about Harmonix preferring Microsoft over Sony and Nintendo?

Here are the actual relationships you would have to use when making an analogy like this:

DLC : TV Show (the entertainment)
PS3/Xbox : TV (the device the entertainment is playing on)
Microsoft/Sony: TV manufacturer (the entity that create the device to play the entertainment)
Harmonix : Cable Network (the entity that creates the entertainment)
PSN/Xbox Live : Cable Company (the entity that provides access to the entertainment)

So, your TV not turning on isn't directly analogous to DLC not being available, because a TV plays entertainment and DLC is entertainment. What would actually apply is "My TV Shows aren't playing. Let me call the cable company." or "My DLC isn't available. Let me call Xbox Live.", which are perfectly logical courses of action.

You might call the Cable Network if your TV shows weren't playing, but when has your cable ever stopped working and it turned out to be because of the cable network? Probably never, usually it's because of a cable outage in the area.
