We're a bit late to the party, but for those of you who don't know the Guitar Hero series has been put on an indefinite hiatus. That means that for the foreseeable future there will be no new games and no new DLC. The Activision division for Guitar Hero has been dissolved, making it unlikely that there are plans for the future. So it's not necessarily dead, it could be revived in the future, but for now it's in a coma and we don't know when or if it will wake up.
I know the majority of users of this site are mainly Rock Band fans, and we give Guitar Hero a hard time, but I believe near the end of it's lifespan it was becoming an admirable series with good ideas. I'm sorry to see it go, let alone the implications this has for music games in general.
Here's hoping this doesn't cast black clouds over the entire genre, and that eventually GH gets a revival worthy of its current stature.

You know it's a shame to any company when they have to turn elsewhere. I didn't grab GH:WOR game nor did I indulge in more than 6 DLC songs that I paid for since GH:WT. I appreciate what GH did to open up a music rhythm genre that kicked arse (Infact I still rock out as much as I can to these music rhythm games). I know Harmonix was the fuel and mastermind for the first two yet probably a huge reason why RB continues to do what it does best. I am curious to the bands who were exclusive to GH, will bands like Aerosmith, Metallica, RHCP, Soundgarden bring more music over to RB now? I mean I don't see Powergig being a huge threat, just my two cents. --- Most wanted DLC:
"Banditos" - The Refreshments
"Lawless & Lulu" - Buckcherry
"Sick of Myself" - Matthew Sweet
"Ain't Comin' Home" - Silvertide
"I Hate You (My Friend)" - John Oszajca
"Lonely is the Night" - Billy Squier
"Over The Hills & Far Away" - Led Zeppelin
"Laid" - James

Well said. Let's give them some respect and stay away from any derogatory remarks.

Warriors is a great sendoff. Very difficult songs and the awesomeness that is 2112.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Harmonix purchase the rights to the game, thus giving them all the exclusive content that GH has/had, it makes sense, from a certain point of view. ---

Harmonix buying GH... that's an interesting thought...
If that was to happen, I would hope for cross-RB-GH compitable DLC --- Gone away.

Wow, always knew it was coming but didnt expect it so fast. It's too bad what happened to the series.
although i havent played since GH3 on PS2. So it doesn't bother me to much.. In fact I'm happy because theres no more competition for RB.

I kinda feel odd...on one hand, BOOYAH! knew it was only a matter of time! take that shitty game series! Had enough of your shit ruining the entire genre I love!
On the other hand...fuuuuck, poor employees. it always sucks to see that happening...entire companies being let go...not their fault.
but yeah, Rock Band wins, bitches!

It's a little sad to see the game go, the pioneer of music video games...
...and then I realize, "Hey! It was Harmonix's idea! Good ridence!" --- "It's beautiful, isn't it? The moon."

Umm, no. Guitar Hero was inspired by Guitar Freaks which was made by Konami. Only Power Gig copied Rock Revolution.
