Also it doesn't hurt to be nice towards other people's opinions in music. After all, people do actually like the music you are going around saying sounds worse than shit.
Heh, I could've sworn that nu-metal was a term made by radio, like classic rock.
But if we were all nice on this forum it would become so dreadfully boring. I still think you're a nice guy, DP.
Nu-Metal and Alternative Metal do have some differences though. Alternative Metal is more of "unusual" Metal, while Nu-Metal is a fusion genre that is a mix of several different genres. Sure, it does make it unusual compared to "normal" Metal, but it still a difference.
Nu-Metal is a genre no mather how much you wish it werent.

it's not a genre it's a format, just like classic rock. When Limp Bizkit, Korn and Linkin Park all blew up nobody knew what to call it. Just look at how dumb it looks "Nu-Metal". Soooo 90's, brah.
Well we could continue to argue about this forever, couldn't we? Either way, I would say that Classic Rock is of course a clasification as it basically just means any rock song recorded sometime before 1980 (aperantly) while Nu-Metal have it's own wave of bands that play similar music with alot of the same features (mixing rap and metal).
Hell, if Nu-Metal isn't a genre, Grunge defintly isn't as genre either as it is just Alternative Rock.
I remember reading in Nickelodeon magazine (like 15 years ago) that Chumbawamba's name was based off a dream that a band member had. He was going to the bathroom in a restaurant (or bar, whatever) and instead of saying "Men" and "Women" on the doors it said "Chumba" and "Wamba", and he didn't know which one to go into.
But of course Chumba was men and Wamba was women, it's so obvious.
This is the only thing I remember from all those Nickelodeon magazines I read. Oh, I also remember the Stick Stickley song.

Grunge is a specific type of alternative though. It's style comes across as dirtier, sleazier and edgier than typical Alternative. I mean, I definitely would not group Alice in Chains, L7, and Pearl Jam with The Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Blind Melon.

The same thing can be said about Nu-Metal again which is my point. If Nu-Metal isn't a genre just because it "simply is Alternative Metal with genre mixing" then one could say the same about Grunge, as it is just "Alternative Rock with heavier and darker guitars", Hardcore as it "is just Punk with more disortion" and all other undergenres, which I find to be silly.

LMAO at "Tubthumping"! I will gladly place that in my library next to the upcoming "Unbelievable"!
I'm actually not too familiar with Live, so I'll have to listen to those.
I'm also shocked that we got Avenged Sevenfold this early (I was expecting that to be months from now, after all the 13 year olds starting bitching for it).

I am dissapointed by the lack of Sun Always Shine On TV aswell.
Live - instabuys, want moar
A-ha - OH THAT SONG, probably will buy, but not pro, hell no
Chumbawumba - have to buy, as a former '90s kid
Avenged Sevenfold - not familiar with these songs, need to see the charts
