One of the most requested bands on RockBand.com, Def Leppard make their first appearance as downloadable content in Rock Band this week, and what an appearance it is! SIX iconic tracks from the 80s superstar group land in the Rock Band Music Store this Tuesday.

With epic guitar parts that helped shape a generation of musicians, it’s no surprise that Harmonix chose to break new ground with Def Leppard, authoring additional Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades for every track in this stellar six pack. Rock Band 3 Pro players will be able to learn their favorite Def Leppard tracks starting this Tuesday!

“We are thrilled to be a part of this Rock Band 6-pack release. It's almost like releasing a new album. We're psyched to be out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii,” added Phil Collen, guitarist for Def Leppard.

The amazing tracks span the Def Leppard catalog, including 1981’s High ‘n’ Dry (“Bringin’ On the Heartbreak”), 1983’s Pyromania (“Photograph”, “Rock of Ages”) and “Undefeated”, a new cut from Def Leppard’s recent album Mirrorball: Live & More. Also from Mirrorball: Live & More are two amazing live versions of mega hits from 1987’s Hysteria, “Animal (Live)” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me (Live)”.

As always, songs available as downloadable content for Rock Band 3 feature five-button guitar and bass parts, drums, Pro Drums, and keys, Pro Keys and harmonies, where applicable. Some songs also feature Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades available for an additional $0.99 upgrade download.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (August 9th, 2011):

• Def Leppard – “Animal (Live)” X
• Def Leppard – “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak” X
• Def Leppard – “Photograph” X
• Def Leppard – “Pour Some Sugar on Me (Live)” X

I can see myself picking up some singles after seeing the charts, but seriously doubt I'll get the whole pack.

Def Leppard – “Pour Some Sugar on Me (Live)” Why live? When will they stop? It's going to sound horrible. Just spend the extra money for the originals already HMX. I know this song has a working master.

When both GH and RB put out live versions of the same song, that's a pretty good indication that there are no working masters.

And how exactly do you know this? I mean, there hasn't been a single song from the entire Hysteria album that has been released in a rhythm game as a studio track.

@Zero: But to play devil's advocate, the live version used by GH and RB were both the same live version from their new album. So there is always the chance that they are merely supporting the new album. However, I'm personally going to lean towards the masters being unusable.

Remember the GH3 track pack? All live except for the new stuff. Except the live ones were from Pyromania, which we now know is usable so I dunno.

You guys do have a good points. I was just speculating. None of us know for sure if there are working masters or not. I'll cherry pick a few of these. Some of these tracks are awesome.

There's something else regarding the Hysteria masters.

Hysteria is famous for taking a really long time, going through a lot of production, and the mixing on that thing was perfect as a result. You'd think they'd be keeping the masters safe for all of that and afterwards.

A lot of times, the masters being available for older albums comes down to the keeper of them, (usually a band member/manager ) diligence in keeping them safe.

The more drug addled/irresponsible that person is coupled with the amount of time that has passed can lead to tape loss, degradation, fire damage, or any number of craziness you can imagine.

If a song has never appeared across the entire music genres worth of games over the number of years they've been going on, it's probably a good indication the tapes/stems or gone or worthless!

I was hoping there'd be no live tracks in this pack, but so be it as long as they don't suck! Which is entirely possible! :(

I am going to be picking up this whole pack! I love Def Leppard to death and have been wondering when they were going to get DLC. Also, GH made the live version sound very moderate at best. If you listened to the actual version, it sounds decent. HMX just has to make the sounds of the instruments get mixed at the right spots.

Here are the Live versions we are getting. I personally think they sound pretty good.
