Alright week, I suppose. Second best this month behind the superior quantity and variety of Korn/Edgar Winter.
Harmony animations were a nice surprise...for once. Yep, I'm in this mode again. I should have said something after We Built This City and I Write Sins, y'know

"Fat Lip" was a blast to sing solo, so I can't wait to sing that with 3 singers! --- Life is excellent, the tap water tastes like excrement, the skies rain poison, and I gotta pay the rent!

Well, you know, if you want more of that, you could go and buy the Beastie Boys songs........................................................................... ................... ---

I would also like to point out that two of the harmonies in "Fat Lip" are charted to the wrong vocalist.
The first one being "But what would you expect with a conscious so small", which is charted to lead (Deryck's part), when it's actually sung by what would be the third harmony (Dave's part).
The second being the "no good-nik lower middle class brat", which is chart to the second harmony (Steve's part), when it actually would go on the lead vocals (Deryck's part). I can understand why they did this though, since the first three words of the line ("well I'm a", which are actually placed in the previous phrase) and overdubbing the slow "cause I'm not listening" line sung by Deryck. --- Life is excellent, the tap water tastes like excrement, the skies rain poison, and I gotta pay the rent!

Weirdly, it seems like the animations, or rather the camera angles, gave that away for me. ---

ARGH! I just can't do the RYB RB RB YB Y YB chord parts in Still Waiting. My finger just does NOT want to let go of the blue. I could FC this if I could not choke there.

Harmony animations were a nice surprise
As far as I can tell, there are no seperate singer animations for harmonies (as is the case with Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Bohemian Rhapsody and more), they just did a nice job on the camera angles. ---

Well, you have to tell the game to make the other characters lipsync the harmony parts. Other than that, no animation is specific to harmonies. ---

What I meant was that the different members of the band lipsync the different harmony parts (for instance, in Total Eclipse the guitarist/keyboardist lipsyncs "TURN AROUND" while the main vocalist lipsyncs Bonnie Tyler's part). As it is now, the main vocalist almost always lipsyncs the harmonies as well (and when there are two different lines sung, the rest of the band will keep their mouths shut). ---

That's not really how it works, vocalist always lipsyncs only the lead part. Guitarist lipsyncs harmony 1 if you tell it to, bassist lipsyncs harmony 2 if you tell it to, and drummer will lipsync the lead part if you tell it to. ---

That's not how Harmonix does it most of the times. ---

Give me an example that's contrary to that. ---

Well, most of the times Harmonix "forgets" to make the guitarist/bassist/drummer/keyboardist lipsynch the second harmony. Sure, most of the times when the lyrics of the harmony are the same as the lead vocals they go animate the rest of the band as well (a notable exeption to this is Ghost of Perdition), but when the harmony singers sing something else than the main vocalist the harmonies aren't animated (extremely noticable in the last Queen pack). ---

Oh, I thought you were implying that somehow the harmonies system was configured differently for official songs. I can believe that they forget to make the other characters participate, though it seems like a pretty big oversight. ---
