Hey, a band that nobody except me cares about! Sick.
De-Luxe is the only "shoegaze" song in the game (that's short for Swirling Hallucinogen-Induced Ominous Electric Guitar Alternarock Zebra Ecstasy), and from a musical perspective it's one of the best introductions to the genre imaginable.
One of the defining aspects of the genre is the wall-of-sound guitar effects. This sounds really awesome, but unfortunately, it doesn't translate very well into gameplay.
For the most part, there are two parts to the song: the fun part and the unfun part. The fun part is the da-DA-DA da-DA-DA that begins the song and reappears towards the end. It's at a decent pace, and although it isn't hopo'd it's pretty fun.
Unfortunately, most of the song is your average acoustic strumfest. Lots of uninteresting alt-strummed chords. This occurs during pretty much all of the verses, and they seriously drag.
The drums and vocals are the selling point of this song (in the way "selling point" applies to an on-disc song), as well as how generally cool the guitar sounds. Great if you're reeeaaallllly high. Otherwise, not all that fun.
