This song contains in my opinion what are two fairly fun simple rhythms, but the problem is that's it.
The verse rhythm is the weaker of the two, being forths on one note followed by eighths involving one note lower. For instance, something like R R R R GRRRGR. It stays rooted on the red and yellow, switching back and forth.
The prechorus (which I'm considering part of the chorus because it's never by itself) has a fun little scale leading in and a few more in there, although it does have a section that's just short sustains on the same note for a bit.
The chorus plays along with the horns and guitar, and moves (fairly slowly) around the fretboard, which, quite simply, nice and fun to me.
It's all easy to manage as an upstrum, and this would probably get a four star if the song was shorter. However, I got tired of the verse rhythm about halfway through the second verse (with another verse later), and worse yet there's a vocal bridge which involves no bass (but is awesome musically). As such, it's just alright on bass.
